I made a second pair of ‘Easternish Slippers’ yesterday/today (I got frustrated part way thought haha) and I have to say, I’m really quite pleased with the way they turned out 😀
If you take a look at the first pair, you’ll see that these ones have much more shape to the toe, which seems to creates more tension and so gives them more structure/rigidity (and they just look cooler, if you like that sort of thing haha). They also have a back this time, could do with a little work, but all in all, not too bad. At some point I’m going to have a play with sticking on a thicker sole, probably rubber. Actually I just got some plantation rubber sheet, which I need to experiment with, looks like it’ll be brilliant. I got it from some lovely and talented friends of ours who make awesome leather-craft stuff, including very cool moccasins. Check out their Etsy site www.spirocreations.etsy.com
If you want to have a go at making some have a look at the post about the 1st pair I made, I talk a little about how I made them.
omg, but who would wear these? i refuse to be in the company of such a man 😛 they are just too pointy.
Haha, well that was a pointed remark 😛 But yes, they are rather pointy aren’t they? Think of them more as a sculptural object, something to be worn on the feet for the amusement they cause, it is the silliness and ridiculous exoticism of them that is their charm. I would never wear them out!
